	Kris Avery Kris Avery discovered her passion for working with birthing women and their families in 1974 when she first saw a baby being born.  It was an “A Ha!” moment and she has been hooked ever since.  She is an RN, a Lamaze childbirth educator and is on faculty at Lamaze International.   In 2002, she helped facilitate the first Passion for Birth seminar in Santa Rosa, CA with her mentor and PFB friend, Teri Shilling.  She teaches childbirth preparation classes and also provides breastfeeding and labor support. 	Sharon Dalrymple, RN, BN, MEd, LCCE, FACCE I started on this amazing journey when I went to a "Teaching Techniques for Adults" workshop, where the two facilitators were Lamaze Childbirth Educators. I sat in the front row with my mouth open the whole day, and by the end of the day they asked me if I wanted to teach with them. The rest is history. Passion for Birth... well, there is no other way! I am priviledged to be on the Board for Lamaze International, and will serve as president for the 2009-2010 year. Not bad for a little country girl from Canada, eh? In my work, I get to "live Lamaze" everyday, as I am Staff Development Nurse for a small maternity unit outside Calgary, Alberta. We are a low risk, hands-on, support natural, use technology when it is necessary kind of facility. I am proud of what we have accomplished. I am also a doula and childbirth educator/facilitator in my rural area and for Alberta. I am keen to forward the Lamaze Philosophy and Healthy Birth Practices far and wide. I live in High River, Alberta with my wonderful husband, Stewart, and my daughter, Tory, and son, Ross. We have a great life.
	Lisa Gartin, RN LCCE CLEC CD (DONA) I have been a registered Nurse since 1993. I started working with Fresno EOC Early Head Start in 2000 as their Maternal Child Health and Disabilities Coordinator, and it was there that my passion for helping pregnant families evolved! This led me to become a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, Lamaze Labor Support and Teen Specialist, and a DONA Birth Doula. The births of my own three children showed me how empowering an experience Birth can be ... if you have the tools to make it happen your way, and working with women taught me that most families don't have these tools. Breastfeeding my own three children, all while working full time and some for an extended period of time, taught me what true bonding and being in love is! Working with families taught me that Breastfeeding is an art... not always easy, and that women need support.  I extended my education to become a Certified Lactation Education Counselor as well as a La Leche League Peer Counselor Administrator so that I could better support our community and my clients.  Currently I teach Lamaze classes, Breastfeeding, Baby Basics and an early pregnancy class and am in private practice as a doula and Lactation services.  I am part of the local Birth Network and Breastfeeding Taskforce.      birthrightrn.com

	Ann Israel, MA, LCCE, E-RYT, FACCE  Ann has been a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator since 1993 and a Fellow in the American College of Childbirth Educators since 2007.  Since 1993 she has worked with over 1300 pregnant women in the Baltimore, Maryland area. She is the owner and founder of Yoga For Moms and conducts Prenatal Yoga Teacher Trainings across the country. Ann has served on the faculty of ICEA in 2005 and 2006 and conducted their Perinatal Fitness Teacher Trainings. In addition to her LCCE certification she is also an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and a Certified Whole Birth Yoga Teacher. 	Jan Madsen, RN, BSN, FACCE My first experience with Lamaze was when I was a student nurse. I observed one Lamaze class and I was hooked. I remember saying, “that is what I want to do when I become a nurse!”  And so it was, just two years after graduating from college, that I found myself writing my ASPO Lamaze syllabus. As you can tell by the name—that was a long time ago—28 years to be exact.  I was also pregnant with my first child!  I was fortunate to work in L&D in a unit that was very low tech and high touch.  I worked for four years in L&D. For two years, I taught nursing at the University of Nebraska (where I role played transition and asked the students how they might care for me!).  Following teaching, I, worked as a Maternal-child health nurse doing home visits on moms and babies going home in less than 24 hours. For the last 23 years, I have coordinated community Education and have had the opportunity to develop and teach programs, as well as help provide education for nurses and childbirth educators to help them work toward normal, healthy birth. In 2007, I began coordinating all of the regional coordinators for Lamaze and in 2008, started training as a trainer for Passion for Birth.  It is a joy to work with Teri and Passion for Birth.  I am excited to help facilitate these training programs and always learn, right along with the participants.  Passion for Birth educators are truly a wonderful group of talented, supportive individuals. I am married and have three grown kids, a dog and a cat. I love to write poetry and volunteer with the Sudanese refugees in my community.
	Oana Melinte-Moraru, LCCE, MD I always wanted to do something to touch people's lives. Lamaze and Teri Shilling offered me this wonderful opportunity by allowing me to bring Lamaze Childbirth Education and Passion for Birth Program into my country - Romania. I am working since December 2004 as a childbirth educator and since 2006 as a PfB faculty. I am the mother of a beautiful, gray eyed boy - Eric and the wife and a wonderful, supportive husband - Viorel. 	Debra Pascali-Bonaro, CD(DONA), LCCE Debra  is a mother of five. 	Mary Jo Podgurski Mary Jo began work as a birth advocate in the Seventies. She has had the great honor of preparing thousands of people for birth and at one time was the only Lamaze educator in her small town; since the Eighties her practice has concentrated on adolescents. 	Augie Rigual, BA, CD, LCCE Through a grant from the Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida, I had the privilege to run a Doula Program where doula services and childbirth classes were offered at no cost to women in the community.   For the last 10 years I have been teaching childbirth to the community through two County Health Departments.  I enjoy teaching in English and Spanish because there is a big Spanish population in Florida and I am able to reach them. Sometimes I do community classes to the pregnant moms at the jail and have great success stories about that.  It is very rewarding to me to be able to educate single moms as well as couples in the birthing process.  After the birth, I offer a community CAFÉ (support group) where moms are welcome to attend with their babies, share their experiences and learn about breastfeeding and parenting.  Enabling them to look at the birth in a positive way and giving them the tools to feel empowered with the knowledge is an amazing feeling.
	Shruti Saxena, LCCE Shruti first attended a PfB seminar in the UK and has hosted a training in her home in New Delhi, India. As a PfB trainer, she is expanding Lamaze in India.   She is also a HypnoBirthing practitioner and a prenatal-postnatal fitness trainer. She enjoys working with pregnant moms and  wants to empower them with information and support to make their own choices for birth and pregnancy. She is also doula in training.
